Smt Marichannamma is a law graduate and has also completed Masters in Political science. She started her career as a teacher and completed 20 years of valuable service and then after taking voluntary retirement she enrolled as a advocate in Tumkur Bar. She was the First woman Advocate of Tumkur. 

Smt Marichannamma along with her husband Sri.RAMACHANDRAIAH N founded Sree KRISHNA EDUCATION SOCIETY in the year 1974 at Tumkur, Karnataka under the aegis of which they started various educational institutions in various parts of Karnataka like Tumkur, Bangalore , Shimoga and Davangere Districts. On the total she is the founder of around 20 institutions including several Professional colleges at Tumkur.

She was a successful advocate since 35 years who worked as panel advocate of various sensational cases of Tumkur District. She has conducted various legal aid camps for rural poor people in her own capacity and done several social service to the poor people.

• She is member of Karnataka State Legal services Authority, worked a Syndicate of Karnataka State Law University, and also was Senate member for two terms at Bangalore University.
• She is also founder of Sree Veena Sharada Education Society, Sree Thippeswamy Education Society and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Education Society which are running few Schools and colleges
• She was also a President of Tumkur rotary club central, and She is also active in politics since 30 years occupying various positions in district and state politics.

She has been conferred with several awards in consideration for her service which has been an added feather to her cap

2. Late. Sri. Devaraja Urs national Sri Ratna award in recognition of yeomen service towards upliftment of backward class and SC-ST people
3. Baba Saheb Ambedkar award in recognition of yeomen service towards upliftment of and SC-ST people in Educational field
4. Bimba Mahila Ratna award in recognition of the overall service in the field of education and legal services
